Domaine des Arondes

Digital Producer Information

The modern labels of Domaine des Arondes feature a swallow (French: aronde). For winemaker Marie-Marjorie, the migratory bird symbolises the connection to her origins, but also renewal, and stands for her life's journey. After leaving school, she initially wanted nothing to do with her parents' business (the Laurent-Gabriel champagne house). Surprisingly, however, she quickly realised how rooted she was in her homeland. She returned there in 2001 and was able to experiment with minimal quantities of her own bottlings. She took over the business in 2018, carefully restructured it and relaunched it as Domaine des Arondes in September 2023.

Since then, no more grapes have been bought in; instead, all champagnes are made from the estate's own 3 hectares of vines. The main grape variety is Pinot Noir, which thrives excellently in Avenay Val d'Or (Premier Cru). There are also Chardonnay plots in Oger and Avize (Grand Cru).

The cuvées Les Sentiers (meaning "the paths") also embody the symbolism of the swallow, as they largely consist of a perpetual reserve that their parents started in 1996. The champagnes are aged for a long time on the lees, but still have an elegant freshness, which makes for a juicy and balanced style.

Another interesting detail: there is a close cooperation with Cedric Moussé, from whom they also took over the innovative paper capsules.
