LAHERTE

Laherte

In this small company, run by Aurélien Laherte in the sixth generation, the pursuit of quality is paramount.

Despite the long family tradition that goes back to Jean-Baptiste Laherte, who planted the first vineyards in 1891, he was not afraid to break new ground. Since Aurélien took over the business from his father, he has drastically changed the style of the domain's champagnes. The all-too-widespread, very ripe and, thanks to a large dose, almost chubby-looking champagne had to give way to a crystal-clear and razor-sharp style. This is particularly evident in the house's single-variety Chardonnay. The limestone soils and the freshness dominate here, the great thing is that the Laherte wines never appear too acidic or edgy. On the contrary, they combine freshness with a creamy, soft texture and are bursting with individuality. Most of the base wines are matured in wood and the malolactic fermentation is skillfully used as required.

The winery has been converting to biodynamic cultivation since 2010. All plots will be developed separately.

Another specialty of the house is the cuvée "Les 7", which is produced using the Solera process and consists of seven different grape varieties. A rarity, an experience for every champagne fan and a welcome change in this region dominated by Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
