Working in harmony with nature is very important to the winemaking family, which is why, after years of sustainable vineyard management, the switch to organic viticulture began in 2018 and all champagnes from the 2021 vintage will also be certified organic.
A large part of the Massonnot family's vineyards are located in the northeastern part of the town center in a shallow amphitheater. This special geographical condition protects the vines from strong winds and, with its diverse soil conditions, offers exciting opportunities to produce expressive terroir champagnes.
In the cellar, care is taken to carefully process the grapes. Pressing takes place using an old basket press to prevent high mechanical stress on the grapes and to maintain the expression of the vineyard sites. Malolactic fermentation is usually only carried out partially and sometimes blocked.
The champagnes from Massonnot are wonderfully youthful, juicy with a lot of flavor and a great drinking flow.
