The Fleury estate, founded in 1895 in Courteron (Côte des Bar), is now run by the 4th generation and is characterised by a passion for biodynamic viticulture. Since 1989, Fleury has been one of the first estates in Champagne to use biodynamic practices in order to create a harmonious ecosystem that promotes the vitality of the soil and the resilience of the vines. Today, Morgane, Jean-Sébastien and Benoît are continuing this legacy of closeness to nature.
The family can look back on a rich history: Emile Fleury was the first to graft Pinot Noir vines in the region after the grapevine invasion. His son Robert ventured into Champagne production in 1929 and became a pioneer of vintner Champagne. Today, Jean-Sébastien is also experimenting with grafting techniques and sulphur-free wines.
The vineyard covers 15 hectares with 85% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay as well as Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Meunier. The vinification combines tradition and innovation. The dosage is always kept low and many cuvées are bottled ‘sulphur-free’. In combination with long bottle ageing, this results in a complex, structured style, the fine yeast flavour is perfectly balanced by a great freshness and depth.
