Thibaud Brocard is the current winemaker (since 2012) behind the Brocard Pierre winery. His family connection to Champagne began in 1932 with his great-grandfather Georges and Thibaud's path into the wine world led through his father and his watchful eye, Pierre Brocard. The Brocard family, which comes from the Irish Kennedy family, has been growing wine since the 11th century.
The approach to wine production is simple and clear: Thibaud values ​​vintage wines that come exclusively from grapes from a single vineyard. These are stored carefully and for a long time on the yeast to achieve the desired aromas. Although he also makes Blanc de Blancs, his passion lies with Blanc de Noirs, particularly the complex Pinot Noir.

Thibaud uses stainless steel for winemaking to preserve the genuine expression of the terroir. Although he does not describe himself as an organic winemaker, he follows sustainable and responsible wine production. He practices principles of biodynamics that seem sensible to him and uses environmentally friendly methods in the vineyard.

The traditional Coquard press allows for gentle pressing to limit color extraction. In addition, work is carried out under nitrogen in order to reduce the addition of sulfur to a minimum.

Winemaking at Champagne Brocard Pierre is a skillful combination of old and new techniques. The unique terroir of the Côte des Bar, characterized by subterranean clay soil and calcareous Kimmeridgia, gives the wines longevity, personality and a refreshing minerality.
