Download winemaker information
Born from a union of two winery children - Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre was founded in 1980 by Chantal Delespierre and Didier Bertrand. Their children Clémence and Adrien recently took over responsibility for the 10 hectare farm.
The winery is located in Chamery, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, between Reims and Epernay. The vineyards are located in the four villages of Chamery, Ecueil, Villedommange and Montbré, all classified as Premier Cru. The three grape varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and the Pinot Meunier are represented equally. The vineyards consist of 60 plots with an average age of 30 years. The majority of the vineyards are green and they are currently preparing for the HVE (High Environmental Value) certification (planned completion in 2018).
Like many wineries in Champagne today, you want to work out the terroir better and better. In addition, a traditional press is used for the most natural processing possible. Some of the base wines are aged in large wooden barrels (600 liters). There the wines go through a spontaneous fermentation. The vintage wines do not undergo malolactic fermentation, with the reserve wines it can sometimes happen naturally. Each champagne matures on the lees for a minimum of four years and significantly longer for the vintages.
Bertrand-Delespierre's champagnes are fresh, crisp, lively and have an exciting, gripping character. Each cuvée is individual and we are incredibly excited to see where this talented family is heading in the future, we look forward to accompanying you on this journey!
