ANDRÉ HEUCQ
Download Producer Information
Champagne André Heucq was founded in 1936 in Cuisles and is located in the heart of the Marne Valley. In 1955, Roger took over Heucq in the second generation, who massively expanded and expanded the winery. The current namesake André has been at the wheel since 1973, who campaigned for the domain to be converted to organic viticulture, and Heucq has been certified since 2018. André’s children Fanny & Alexandre have also been on board for several years. Fanny also runs a Champagne boutique in Paris.
The domain has 6ha of vineyards, with the Meunier grape being the most important. The soil has a special three-layer formation, consisting of sand, green clay and calcareous clay. This type of soil requires a little less water, which is good for the rain-poor area around Cuisles. This rock formation produces Meuniers with special characteristics, with particularly high minerality and high maturation potential.
When the wines are matured, André dispenses with filtration and largely stabilization, and uses only a little sulfur. He prefers aging in wood (barrels from Burgundy), with the aim of achieving balance and harmony. He expresses all his passion when he works year after year to achieve the most complex possible blend of base wines. The dosage has been reduced more and more in recent years, but the long yeast storage has been retained. This gives the champagnes their very own style: intense and powerful, but also precise, mineral, crisp and with a lot of structure.
