LOUIS BROCHET

Yoga and champagne, do they go together? You can try it yourself at the vineyard of the siblings Hélène and Louis Brochet in Écueil (Montagne de Reims). After a guided session, after which all the senses are wide awake, the two serve three of their champagnes in order to make all facets of their very different cuvées a sensual experience.
And this is also the passion of the young oenologist, who is responsible for the wines of the 13-hectare family winery in the 5th generation - to optimally work out the characteristics of the different terroirs and grape varieties and to assemble them in the cellar into liquid, independent and clearly defined works of art.
The 50 plots, which are spread over 6 locations, are mainly planted with Pinot Noir and offer Louis a wide range of possibilities.
As early as the 19th century, the founder of the company, Marie Arsène Brochet, only selected those vines for propagation that had produced the best results for at least three years in a row and were optimally adapted to the climate and soil (selection massale). This variety, called "Pinot Noir d'Ecueil", forms the basis of today's strength of character and class of the domain.
Another special feature is the high proportion of reserve wine in the champagne: it is already almost 50% in the base cuvée "Héritage Brut". A good part of it comes from a Soléra, which was created by the winemaker in 2010 (Réserve pérpetuelle).
Last but not least, Rosie, the cork-hunting winery dog at Brochet, ensures a good mood and positive energy - not only among the yoga practitioners.
