André Heucq
The Heucq family began bottling their own champagne in 1936. From the 1950s onwards, Roger Heucq modernised the business and a large proportion of the vines date back to this time. When his son André joined the company in 1973, the conversion to organic viticulture and a reorientation towards fine, elegant, terroir-influenced champagnes began. Today, André is supported by his children Fanny & Alexandre. Fanny also runs ‘dilettantes’, a renowned champagne boutique in Paris.
The domaine has 8 hectares of vineyards in the Vallée de la Marne, where Meunier is the most important grape variety. The soil has a special three-layer structure, consisting of sand, green clay and calcareous clay. Wines with very special characteristics grow here, with finely balanced minerality, body and high ageing potential.
No filtration is used when ageing the wines and hardly any sulphur is used. André favours ageing in wood to achieve balance and harmony - but his experiments with concrete eggs and clay amphorae also produce exciting results.
Low dosage and long ageing on the lees give the champagnes their intense and powerful style, which is also always precise, soil-emphasising, juicy and with plenty of structure.

50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir, 20% Meunier Terroir: Cuisles (Le Bout de la Ville & La Sablonnière) Soil: Limestone & clay (Illit) Vine Age: Chardonnay 30 Years, Meunier 25 Years, Pinot Noir 36 Years Vinification: 50% in Oak Barrels und 50% in Inox-Tanks Partial Malolactic Fermentation 5 Years Bottle Aging Dosage: 4g/l Production: 2500 Fl. Andreas SEP23: So much champagne for comparatively little money! And then you can buy it with a clear organic conscience because it comes from "good" agriculture from a biodynamic producer from the Marne. Juicy, for André with 4 grams almost highly dosed and yet super balanced, fine wholemeal toast, quince bread, fine wood spice, good pressure and great length, enormously drinkable. With his Millésime 2014, "Mr. Meunier" Heucq demonstrates perfectly what wonderful champagnes can be made with experience and healthy grapes, even in years that are not so easy. Moritz AUG22: A wonderfull aged Champagne with super fine perlage. Right after opening you'll find aromatics that remind of morning dew in the woods. With some time and airation armoas of caramelized red apples and delicate brioche notes develope. This complex Champagne developes, with some time and air, to a diverse pleasurable experience. Well suited as food companion for dishes with roasting flavours.
