To the west and slightly above Cumières sits 'Les Hautes-Chèvres', where Laval cultivates Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The darker, more fertile soil of this vineyard contains more clay than that in Les Chênes and the chalk cliffs stretch even deeper. In 2004 Laval produced a pure Pinot Meunier champagne here from this site, and he has continued ever since.
