In Greek mythology, the Pleiades are the seven daughters of Atlas and the namesake of the Pleiades star cluster; therefore, the number seven plays a central role. Ancient authors also linked their rising and setting to agricultural and viticultural seasons. A winemaker who chooses "Les Pleiades" is thus alluding to several parcels of land that merge into a single unit, as well as to the agricultural-cosmic context.
