Guillaume Doyard attaches great importance to his base cuvée because, as he points out, it is the most difficult to make. In fact, Vendémiaire offers exceptional quality and sets the bar high in this segment. Most of the grapes come from Vertus, but the Grand Cru communities of Le-Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant are also involved.
40 percent of the wines are aged in small wood and about 20 percent undergo malolactic fermentation. The assemblage consists of the last three vintages, 50 percent are reserve wines. Bottle aging lasts four years – that's the minimum at Doyard. Vendémiaire has style, convinces with a wonderful balance, great noblesse and delicacy. Gorgeous drinking flow.
Lukas NOV22: In the nose yeasty-brioche notes, which are backed with a fine spiciness, hints of citrus and some apple notes, in the mouth the citrus notes dominate combined with a refreshing, crispy acidity, the yeasty notes and woody spiciness are rather in the background, very nice drinking flow.
