Welcome to Rémy Lequeux-Mercier, a winery with a history passed down from generation to generation. This invaluable knowledge and heritage flow through the family's veins and are now expanded upon by Rémy Lequeux-Mercier.
The roots of this story reach back to Emile Mercier, Rémy's great-grandfather, who, despite working as a railwayman, had a keen interest in wine and was one of the pioneers of Passy-sur-Marne. His son Lucien planted vineyards on newly classified agricultural land, laying the foundation for the estate's development.
Rémy's parents, Nelly and Michel, imparted their extensive know-how, ambition, and passion for the vines to him. As a representative of the fourth generation, Rémy is proud to honor and carry on this legacy.
Between the forest and the river, the soil composed of clay, marl, and sand has allowed Rémy to compose unusual cuvées made from 100% Meunier, offering freshness and a touch of salinity. Every step of the viticulture process is carried out with the utmost care and dedication, without the use of pesticides, to minimize the environmental footprint and produce top-quality products.
The oldest plots were planted in 1971 and bear picturesque names such as "Les Heurtebises," a slope in the valley where "the Bise collides," or "Meauleveaux," located in the middle of the valley.
During the vinification process, the wines are processed in stainless steel tanks or entirely in oak barrels. Minimal intervention is applied, with no filtration or fining, and natural yeast strains are used to obtain Champagnes that reflect the terroir and highlight the unique characteristics of each individual plot.
Rémy Lequeux-Mercier stands as a guarantee of traditional expertise and a beautiful family history brought to life by the passion for terroirs and inherited knowledge.
